Rethinking Payment Infrastructures to Support the Transformation of the WAEMU Region: Looking Back on Our Event in Abidjan
Abidjan, June 10, 2026 – Capital Banking Solutions, in partnership with Myriad Group and Business France Côte d’Ivoire, organized a morning of discussions at the Noom Hotel Abidjan dedicated to the future of payment infrastructures in the WAEMU region under the theme: “The Evolution of Payment Infrastructures in WAEMU: From Compliance to Value Creation.” The event brought together major players from the banking, payments, and digital transformation sectors to share their expertise and perspectives on the strategic developments shaping the regional financial ecosystem.
The event was opened with speeches by Samer Hanna, CEO of Capital Banking Solutions, and Jean-Christophe Belliard, Ambassador of France to Côte d’Ivoire. Their remarks highlighted the importance of innovation, cooperation among industry stakeholders, and the adaptation of financial infrastructures to new challenges related to competitiveness, technological sovereignty, and financial inclusion.
Throughout the morning, participants were able to discover the shared vision promoted by Capital Banking Solutions and Myriad Group to support the transformation of payment infrastructures across the region. The discussions also highlighted the progress of the PI-SPI interoperability program within the WAEMU zone, as well as the opportunities this evolution offers to enhance payment efficiency, improve customer experience, and foster the emergence of new value creation models.
Two panel discussions structured the event. The first focused on the key success factors of an interoperability project and the levers for maximizing its return on investment. The second explored the challenges of technological sovereignty and regulatory compliance in the context of accelerating payment digitalization. These discussions enabled speakers to share practical experiences and provide perspectives on the challenges and opportunities awaiting financial institutions across the region.
The teams from Capital Banking Solutions and Myriad Group also presented their innovative solutions through live demonstrations, showcasing their ability to support banks, financial institutions, and payment operators in their transformation and compliance with new market requirements.
We warmly thank all speakers, partners, and participants for their presence and contribution to the success of this event. The quality of the discussions, the richness of the shared experiences, and the commitment of all stakeholders present reflect the dynamism of the West African financial ecosystem and its collective determination to build payment infrastructures that are increasingly efficient, interoperable, and value-generating.
